Two puppies are missing from the Second Chance Animal Sanctuary in Norman. As you can imagine, workers at the shelter are upset.
Jenny Retter, the kennel supervisor, says, "Whomever did this, it was just malicious! Whomever took the puppies stole them, flat out stole them."
One of the stolen puppies is black and goes by the name Zamboni. The other is a small brown puppy and goes by the name Bruno.
"Bruno is so little. He's not even five pounds and he can't even eat dry food yet," says Retter. "He probably won't make it unless we can get him back so he can get medical care."
She goes on to say, "They have not had all their vaccines yet, so exposure to anything on the outside could conceivably kill them."
The shelter is closed on Sunday's but Retter says she was working Sunday afternoon. The puppies were left alone in a room where staff is only allowed for not even five minutes.
"There was close to a thousand dollars worth of powers tools, my purse was sitting on the counter, cell phones were out and the two puppies ended up missing," says Retter.
That's right, only the two puppies were taken. It's especially difficult for Jenny. She's adopting another puppy from the litter and had planned to rescue Bruno as well.
Retter says, "It just breaks our hearts! We've all cried all night long because these puppies are gone."
The shelter is offering a $300 reward for the puppies. Workers say no questions will be asked and there will be no police involvement if the puppies are returned safely.
