It only took Southmoore's football program two seasons to put itself on the map and did it in a big way in 2009. The Sabercats advanced to the semi-finals of the state playoff's before losing to Jenks. Now the question becomes can they sustain sucess.
Southmoore will be met with many challenges on the football field this season, but will have a quarterback equipped to handle all of them. Senior Kendall Thompson dazzled in 2009 and will look to do the same in 2010 to lead his team back to the playoffs.
Things will not be as easy for the Oklahoma commit. He will have a very good ground game with Andrew Long returning, a season after rushing for 1,500 yards. However, the two will play behind an inexperienced offensive line in an extremly tough district.
Southmoore finds itself in a district with Jenks, Broken Arrow and Muskogee. All three teams are beasts of the east and proven playoff fixtures. Throw on top Norman, a playoff hopeful, and Shawnee, a power in 5A, and the path to the playoffs becomes a bit less clear.
However, as the Sabercats learned a season ago, its not all about the offense. This season the Sabercats will have to learn to stop teams if it wants a chance to advance deep into the playoffs.
