Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Team USA squeezed out an 86-85 win over highly-touted Spain in a FIBA World Championship exhibition game Sunday. Durant, who was named Player of the Game for his efforts, also notched two crucial blocks as time expired to seal the victory.
Durant's Oklahoma City teammate Russell Westbrook added 8 points and 4 rebounds. Chicago guard Derrick Rose chipped in with 13 points, while Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom registered 12 points and 9 rebounds as Team USA improved to 3-0 in exhibition play.
Juan Carlos Navarro paced the Spanish team offensively with a 20 points and six assists. Memphis center Marc Gasol also tossed in 17 points for the home team.
Team USA travels to Athens for a match-up with Greece on Thursday at 7 p.m. The FIBA World Championships begin Aug. 28 and final roster cuts toward the official 12-man roster must be submitted one day before the start of the competition.
