The weekend provided team USA with a pair of wins in the FIBA World Championships and a pair of solid performances for Thunder teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Westbrook led the highlight reel in a win Saturday over Croatia, then Kevin Durant scored a game high 22 points in Sunday's 99-77 win over Slovenia.
Durant, much like during the NBA season, was efficient from the floor hitting eight of his 13 shots to finish with over 20 points again. Durant has become the go to guy for USA and continues to be an assassin with the ball in his hand. However, Durant wasn't the only American in double figures.
Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzlies was three of six from behind the arc and provided 16 points for USA Basketball. Andre Iguodala and Russell Westbrook each pitched in 11 points to help the offensive explosion. The best sign may have come from Kevin Love who posted a double double in the contest scoring ten points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Team USA will look to go to 3-0 in pool play taking on Brazil and 1:30 p.m. CST.
