The Oklahoma State Cowboys remained undefeated in the first round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament defeating the Oklahoma Sooners easily tonight 81-67 in Kansas City. The Cowboys came out of the gates with the pistols firing and never let up.
The Cowboys started the game on a 9-0 run, then continued it out to a 20-2 lead to put the game away before it really got started. Keiton Page was lights out perfect in the first half making all six of his field goal attempts, five of which were from behind the arc. Page finished the night with 24 points, one off his career high, and four steals.
The Sooners made a run to start the second half cutting the what was a 22 point halftime lead to just ten then the Cowboys pushed the lead for good. Obi Muonelo scored five straight for the Pokes to push the lead to 15 and that was as close as it would get for the rest of the game. Muonelo finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Conference player of the year James Anderson was held down scoring just 11 points making only four field goals on 11 attempts. The Pokes didn't need Anderson in the game as they rolled easily.
As in the blowout in Stillwater, Tommy Mason-Griffin was the bright spot for the Sooners scoring 22 points and dishing out nine assists. Tony Crocker, in his final game as a Sooner, scored nine points in the loss.
Steven Pledger, off the bench, scored 18 points for the Sooners all from behind the three point line. The Sooners were held to just 67 points on 45% field goal shooting. Meanwhile, the Cowboys shot well over 53% from the field and advance to the second day to take on second seeded Kansas State.
The Cowboys beat the Wildcats in the previous match-up in Manhattan and will meet for the second time tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m. inside the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
