Oklahoma State closed out the regular season with a win, while the Sooners slipped against Texas A&M.
Inside both Gallagher Iba Arena and Lloyd Noble it was senior day. Obi Muonelo, Oklahoma State's only senior, scored 13 points while James Anderson scored 25 on 9 of 15 shots from the field. OSU went on to beat Nebraska 74-55.
Oklahoma State went 9 of 15 from 3-point range in the first half and led 38-19 at halftime. The Cowboys started the second half on a 15-6 run to push their lead to 53-25. After that burst, OSU led by a minimum of 19 points the rest of the way.
Oklahoma State finished the season 9-7 in the Big 12 and will most likely be in the NCAA tournament. The Cowboys will be the seventh seed in the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, Mo., and will play Oklahoma in the first round. The Cowboys and Sooners split a pair of regular-season games.
Meanwhile it was a tough senior day inside Lloyd Noble. After a tough first half, the Aggies held Oklahoma to its lowest second-half scoring total of the season.
At one point OU was within two points and then Tiny Gallon left the game with a hurt ankle. But they needed more than his help to overcome their 24 percent shooting in the second half. in a 69-54 victory Saturday.
Overall Texas A&M outscored the Sooners 38-16 in the paint and shot 52 in their 69 to 54 victory. .
Tommy Mason-Griffin led Oklahoma with 16 points and also broke Terry Evans' school record for the most assists by a freshman in a season. Andrew Fitzgerald and senior Ryan Wright, each scored 10 points.
The Sooners will be the 10th seed at the Big 12 tournament next week and face rival Oklahoma State in the opening round on Wednesday.
