National Letter of Intent signing day brought a total of 55 new players to the state of Oklahoma.
Oklahoma State University signed 27 to next years class while OU totaled 28.
The Pokes signees include two from Oklahoma and the majority from Texas. The biggest area in the class is in the defensive back position where OSU will have six joining the squad.
OSU got a lot of recruits that appear to be headed to the defensive side of the ball. Among those players is Shaun Lewis a 6'1 linebacker from Missouri City, Texas.
Other signees include Johnny Deaton a quarterback out of Sand Springs, OK. Justin Gilbert who plays on both sides of the ball at defensive back and wide receiver. Gilbert is from Huntsville Texas. Their lone junior college transfer Malcolm Murray a 6'2 defensive back who is already enrolled at OSU for the spring semester.
OU's list includes players from six different states and every offensive and defensive position. Of their 28 signees, four are currently enrolled and attending the spring semester.
The Sooners add some familiar names to their roster. Some of the names include Mustang offensive lineman Bronson Irwin, Southmoore tight end Austin Haywood along with his teammate defensive back Julian Wilson. Some of their big national recruits include Tony Jefferson out of Chula Vista California who is a four star U.S. Army All American defensive back, and also quarterback Blake Bell from Wichita Kansas. Bell is a five star recruit who threw for 2,752 yards and 32 touchdowns in 2009.
OU's spring practice begins Monday March 8.
