This weekend, the Sooners shined while the Cowboys struggled and the women's teams battled it our Bedlam style.
The OU mens team hosted Texas inside Lloyd Noble. It was the perfect game to dedicate to Wayman Tisdale with plenty of passion, hustle and hard work.
The efforts of Tommy Mason-Griffin who scored 24 points and Cade Davis who added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the second double-double of his career helped the Sooners to their 12th straight win on their home court.
Late in the game the Longhorns cut a 19-point deficit to five, but could not hit clutch free throws to win the game. In the end Texas only made 10 of its 27 shots from the charity stripe.
OU's leading scorer Willie Warren did play in the game, but his time was minimal. Warren is still recovering from a sprained right ankle that has kept him out of the last few games. Final score from Norman, Sooners win 80-71.
Meanwhile the ladies battled it out in the first Bedlam Series of the season, and it was a tight one. Danielle Robinson scored a career-high 36 points and No. 13 Oklahoma beat No. 10 Oklahoma State 77-66 inside Gallagher Iba Arena.
The lead changed 11 times and neither team led by more than seven points until the final two minutes. In those final minutes Riley's shooting struggled while Robinson made some key plays. Oklahoma pulled away as they scored 10 straight points, led by Robinson who had eight of those 10 points. Andrea Riley led the Cowgirls with 30 points.
The Cowboys were on the road in Lubbock, and even though they had Ray Penn back in the lineup, they still didn't have enough to come out on top. Keiton Page scored 20 of his 22 points over an eight-minute span in the second half. Final score 81-74.
The Red Raiders started the second half with a 13-4 run to go up 48-30 with about 15 minutes remaining. The Cowboys used an 18-7 run to pull within 63-57, but couldn't close the gap for good. James Anderson was held to 10 points, and fouled out with just over five minutes left. OSU did out rebound the Raiders, 42-33 and Matt Pilgrim grabbed 12 for OSU.
Next up, the season's final Bedlam battle as the Sooners head to Stillwater on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m.
