Lions Bengals

In the NLF, the Detroit Lions beat the the Cincinnati Bengals 27-10. Bengals Chad Johnson went down with a strained left shoulder after having a pass taken away from him for an interception. Ensuing drive; Jon Kitna throws a 27 yard touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson. Lions Drew Stanton threw for a touchdown and also ran for one.

Patriots Buccanneers

Defending AFC Champion New England Patriots fell to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers 27-10. Patriots offense struggled without Tom Brady managing just 174 yards of offense. They also turned the ball over three times including this Sabby Piscitelli return for a touchdown. Bucs improve to 2-0 while the Patriots drop to 0-2.

Dodgers Brewers

Andre Ethier hit a two run walk off homerun to give the Dodgers the 7-5 win over the Brewers. Ethier also had a solo homerun earlier in the game. With the win the Dodgers pull into a tie with the Diamondbacks for the lead in the NL West.

Cubs Marlins

Cubs put up eight runs in the 7th inning and beat the Marlins 9-2. Reed Johnson went four for five and had a bases clearing double in that inning. Alfonso Soriano and Aramis Ramirez each doubled in a couple of runs. Cubs Ryan Dempster got the win. He struckout ten batters in the game.

3M Performance 400

Carl Edwards took the checkered flag at the 3M Performance 400. Edwards get his 5th Sprint Cup Series win of the season. He also won Saturday's Nationwide Series Race. Kyle Busch came in second and clinches the top spot when the chase for the cup begins next month.

Play of the Day

Bottom of the 2nd, 5-0 Twins Justin Morneau with a slow chopper between 1st and 2nd base. Jose Lopez hustles to the ball and gloves it to 1st baseman Bryan LaHair. Check it out again as Lopez makes a sweet glove play and gets Morneau out to end the inning. Lopez comes away with our play of the day.
