Rodgers Opens New Era in Green Bay
In pre-season Monday night football the Aaron Rodgers era began in Green Bay, as the Packers hosted the Bengals. With the Brett Favre saga finally behind him, Rodgers looked solid in one quarter of action going nine of 15, for 117-yards, with a touchdown and an interception. The Bengals however got the win in this one 20 to 17.
Mets Bullpin Sturggles
In baseball, the Mets' bullpen continued to slump. The Pirates erased a four run deficit late in the game and this Steve Pearce two out two run double in the 9th proved to be the difference, as Pittsburgh topped the Mets 9-7.
Weaver to OKC
Oklahoma City's NBA team acquired a new player on Monday. Former Charlotte Bobcat Kyle Weaver is headed to OKC after a trade for a 2009 second-round draft pick.
Ntl. Home School Tourney Not in Oklahoma
The National Christian Home School Basketball Championship will not be held in Oklahoma next year. After eight years in the sooner state the 2009 through 2011 games will be played in Springfield, Mo. Rising hotel costs, possible unavailability of the Cox Convention Center, and facilities too small to hold all the fans were among the reasons stated explaining the move to Missouri.
RedHawks Head to Nashville
The Oklahoma RedHawks finished up their series with the Albuquerque Isotopes on Monday night. The Hawks went 0-4 against the Isotopes with their 7-13 loss last night. The Hawks travel to Nashville to begin their series with the Sound tonight.
