Favre Traded to Jets
Call him 'Broadway Brett'. Wednesday afternoon Brett Favre left Green Bay for what appeared to be his final exit. Late Wednesday the Packers confirmed that Brett Favre has been traded to the New York Jets. What the Packers are getting for Favre was not immediately known, but it is believed to be a conditional draft pick.
Rays with Huge Comeback
On to some baseball news, the Cinderella Tampa Bay Rays scored six runs in the bottom of the 9th to stage a 10-7 comeback win over Cleveland. Gabe Gross' two run homerun tied it at seven. Then Carlos Pena hit a three run walk-off shot to close the deal. The AL East leading Rays are two wins away from tying the franchise record of 70 wins in a season.
Pirates Blank D'Backs
The Pirates blanked the DiamondBacks 2-0. Jeff Karstens came within four outs of pitching a perfect game. D'Backs Chris Young's broke the streak with a two-out double in the 8th. Karstens ended up with a two hit shutout and improving to 2-0 since coming over from the Yankees.
Yankees at Texas
After legend Bobby Murcer's memorial service, the Yankees were back on the diamond against the Rangers Wednesday night. Newly acquired catcher Ivan Rodriguez injures his knee in a collision at the plate with David Murphy. Both players left the game. The Yankees did go on to win, 5-3.
Self Signs Big with Kansas
He was once considered as a possibility for the OSU head men's basketball coach, but Bill Self won't be leaving KU any time soon. The OSU alum signed a ten year $30 million contract with the Jayhawks on Wednesday.
Play of the Day
Bottom of the 5th, no outs, 9-4 Angels. Juan Rivera hits one to deep center field, but Jay Payton makes a great catch over the wall to rob Rivera of a home run for the 1st out of the inning. Take a look again, Payton's nice grab comes away with our play of the day.
