Favre Back to the NFL
It's official, Brett Favre is back. The NFL will reinstate the quarterback today and Favre is expected to report to camp right away. The team says it will have an open competition for the starting quarterback position between Favre and Aaron Rodgers.
NFL Hall of Fame Game
On the field in the hall of fame game, the NFL's kickoff to the preseason, Washington's rookie quarterback Colt Brennan threw two TD passes to lead the Redskins to a 30-16 win over Indianapolis. That gave new head coach Jim Zorn a pleasant debut. Peyton Manning did not play for the Colts.
Kansas City Brawl
In baseball, things got a little heated in Kansas City. The Royals' Miguel Oleevo charged the mound after being hit by D.J. Carrasco. The benches cleared and after order was restored, Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was ejected. Royals won big, 14-3.
Carey Dies
Longtime Braves announcer Skip Caray died at home in his sleep on Sunday. Caray was in his 33rd season calling games for the Atlanta franchise. The son of Hall of Fame play-by-play man Harry Caray and father of Chip Caray who is also on the Braves broadcast team, Skip was 68 at the time of his death.
Singh Takes Bridgestone Inviational
In golf, at the Bridgestone Invitational, Vijay Singh shot a two under 68 Sunday to finish 10-under for the tournament to win his first world golf championship event.
Play of the Day
To the LPGA, Women's British Open. Annika Sorenstam playing in her final major at the 14th hole, Sorenstam putting for eagle from off the green and Annika buries it from long distance for the play of the day.
