NBA Playoffs
Kobe Bryant scored 49 points, just one point shy of his playoff career high, as the Lakers outlasted Denver 122-107 to take a two nothing lead in their first round series with the Nuggets.
In the east, the Pistons evened up their series with the 76'ers with a 105-88 win. Rip Hamilton led a balanced attack for Detroit with 20 points and Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Antonio McDyess each added 16. Game 3 is in Philadelphia Friday night.
Celtics and Hawks, where Boston star Kevin Garnett received the defensive player of the year award. Garnett went on to rack 19 points and 10 rebounds and lead the Celtics to a 96-77 win and a 2-0 lead in the first-round series. Game three will be played in Atlanta on Saturday night.
Pac to Dallas
The Dallas Cowboys reached agreement to acquire defensive back Pac Man Jones for a fourth-round draft pick. If he doesn't get reinstated by the NFL, the Titans will send an undisclosed 2009 draft pick back to the Cowboys. Jones has agreed to a restructured contract with the Cowboys. Terms of the deal are not available as of yet.
