Crew members are injured just hours before thousands of people showed up for the Peter Frampton, Yes concert at Lucky Star Casino. The tent and portions of the stage collapsed because of dangerous winds. Now, one crew member says he feels pretty lucky. (Click here to view the tent collapse surveillance video)
Andrew Wine who works as a head grip on many concerts in Oklahoma just finished sound checks for the Peter Frampton/Yes concert when the quick storm hit late in the afternoon.
"You could kind of here it coming but not really," Wine explained.
He was able to push a woman out of the way as the tent collapsed in the casino's parking lot. Andrew, struck with the falling equipment, broke his leg.
"I thought that I was going to bleed to death or something because I was bleeding everywhere, but rescue got there really quick," Wine described.
A total of six people were injured when the major gust of wind hit the tent. Wine said a large metal pole even went through Yes' tour bus.
"I'm glad it happened when it did, if it had been another hour and a half who knows what would've happened," Wine added.
All those injured are expected to recover. Andrew says he hopes no one is discouraged about going to outdoor concerts because of what happened. He'll continue to set up gigs, but with a little more caution.
"I do a lot of praying, all the time." Wine concluded.
Lucky Star Casino wanted to thank everyone for their quick response in helping those injured. The Peter Frampton and Yes concert will be rescheduled, but a date hasn't been picked yet. Ticket refunds are available.
