OCU Receives $5 Million Scholarship

KSBI News

One of Oklahoma's most successful businesses is making sure students have a chance to thrive in business as well.

Chesepeake Energy is giving $5 million to Oklahoma City University to fund a scholarship program through the Meinders School of Business. It will be distributed over a 5-year period and will benefit 17 undergraduate students.

The program will prepare students for careers in finance, economics, accounting, marketing, business administration, computer science and information technology. Chesapeake executives will serve as mentors for the scholarship recipients.

"A gift of this magnitude, of this prestige at this time, couldn't be at a better time," said Robert Henry, President of Oklahoma City University.

OCU officials say this is the biggest scholarship ever given to the university.
