Two local organizations are teaming up to help cancer patients.
The Oklahoma Blood Institute is working with the Oklahoma region of the American Cancer Society. During the month of August blood donors can choose not to receive a T-shirt and instead, OBI will make a donation to help cancer patients.
Alyssa Baker, a cancer survivor who had 19 blood transfusions, says the money and the blood will be priceless.
"There were many times that I wasn't able to receive treatment because my platelet counts or my blood counts were too low and the treatment I needed only came about because I was able to receive the blood," said Baker.
Monetary donations will pay for things like wigs and treatment options for cancer patients.
