There have been more concerns lately over the safety of medical helicopters nationwide.
Officials say the total number of people killed in medical helicopter and plane crashes this year has jumped to 21 from six last year. A member of the National Transportation Safety Board says the sharp spike in deaths is very alarming.
In Oklahoma, an EagleMed helicopter went down near Kingfisher in July, on its way to a medical call. Two people were killed and one was injured.
An Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter crashed Tuesday near Scotland, Ark., killing the pilot, a nurse and a paramedic. It was the fourth fatal accident this summer.
