Infant Crisis Services opened Friday two new centers in Oklahoma City that will provide supplies to families and their children in times of crisis.
The nonprofit organization helps more than 12,000 babies and toddlers in central Oklahoma each year. They provide baby formula and food, as well as diapers and clothing for infants in need.
"This is just the beginning, we're gonna be out there in the field five days a week helping babies, because the demand is going to be so large," said Miki Farris, Infant Crisis Exec. Director.
Organization officials say it is hard to imagine babies and toddlers who go to bed hungry, but they say there are many families in the sate that can't provide for their children. They say Oklahoma has the 8th highest incidence of childhood poverty in the country.
