Millions of dollars for housing assistance are headed to the state.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $4.6 million to help low-income elderly residents and those with disabilities in Lawton, Seminole, Shawnee and Wilburton.
More than $2 million will be given to the Native American Housing Services in Shawnee, and more than $1.3 million will go to the Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency in Seminole. Quality Enterprises of Lawton, Inc. and the Kibois Community Action Foundation in Wilburton will each receive more than $500,000.
HUD has announced that 46 states will receive more than $500 million in grants.
