Two people who died in a tragic helicopter crash last week were laid to rest Thursday. Hundreds paid their respects to 35-year-old Ryan Duke and 56-year-old Al Harrison. Both died when their EagleMed helicopter crashed one week ago.
It was a celebration of life and a love of flying.
Helicopters sat outside Crossings Community Church in honor of Harrison and Duke. Inside, flight helmets lined the stairs.
Several co-workers and friends shared their favorite memories of the two, including Harrison's daughter, who shared her father's love for the sky.
"He always told me I could do absolutely anything. He made me feel like I was flying even when we were on the ground," says Amber Harrison.
She wore a special t-shirt with a Batman logo on it in honor of her father. she says he was batman because he was a human who did extraordinary things.
Friends say Duke won't be remembered so much as a nurse, but more as someone who wanted to help people.
"Ryan and Al's spirit burns so bright in my heart that I will never stop talking about them, never stop telling people what they're about," says Mike McElroy, a friend of both men.
As family members received American flags in honor of the two who gave their lives helping others, they were reminded that their loved ones are now embarking on another flight- this time as angels.
Mike Eccard, 34, survived the crash. He remains at OU Medical Center in serious condition.
