A 911 dispatcher is honored for the way she handled a tense situation.
The call came in to Sydney Myers on September 7th, 2009.
A Nichols Hills resident called 911 after hearing glass breaking inside her neighbor's house, but her neighbor was out of town.
When police arrived they found a burglar inside. Police tried to stop him, but he ran off and shots were fired.
Myers says she thought the officer had been shot, but she kept her cool and was able to finish the call.
Monday, Myers received the award for Central Oklahoma 911 Dispatcher of the Year.
"It could be stressful, in a lot of situations you don't know what to expect, what's going to come in or what the next phone call is going to be, so you have to be ready," says Myers of her job.
The officer fired a fatal shot at the burglar.
Myers was honored for her professionalism and ability to remain calm.
