El Reno Teen Senselessly Murdered

KSBI News

A teen is killed at a home in El Reno over the weekend.  The family of 18-year-old Levi Lusty says they're living a nightmare, and are still wondering why this happened.

A weekend vandalism call turned into a plan to brutally attack on an 18-year-old boy, he later bled to death in his girlfriend's arms.  Levi Lusty enjoyed racing lawn mowers and wanted to become an electrician, but late Sunday his life was tragically ended.  He was checking out vandalism at his girlfriend's house when 2 men approached him and stabbed him.  Witnesses say a group of girls may have been mad at Levi's girlfriend.

Lisa Estrada, Levi's mother said, "I just wanted to see him.  (He was a) good natured kid, he's fun to be around."

His family says he'd never been in a fight.  Now, 28-year-old Jeremy Pendleton and 19-year-old Damon Richey are being held in connection with Levi's death.  Pendleton has been in prison for robbery, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Scott Engel, the father of victim's girlfriend said, "I don't know why, it's just senseless.  You convicted this man of all this stuff, why is he out on the streets?  Why is he not still incarcerated?"

The family continues to struggle with the loss of a boy who's smile they wont forget.

"It still seems like a dream," Levi's Aunt, Julie Macias explained.  "I don't think anybody deserves to die but i hope they don't see daylight ever."

"It's terrible," Engel described.  "If you wanted to pick a boy to date your daughter, that'd be the boy.  A respectful young man."

Four girls who were with the suspects during the deadly attack have not been charged with a crime.  Levi's family says that they don't believe he knew either of his attackers.

A candle light vigil at the home which is located at 315 W. Hayes St. in El Reno is scheduled for 7pm, tonight (3/29).

A fund has been set up in Levi Lusty's name at the Bank of Union in El Reno.

Initial Story (3/29/10 11:00am)  An argument that started last week appears to be what lead to the murder of an El Reno teenager.

Police say 18-year-old Levi Lusty was stabbed to death in the 300 block of W. Hayes Street early Sunday morning. Police arrested two suspects shortly after. Officers were responding to a vandalism call at that location when they saw 28-year-old Jeremy Pendleton and 19-year-old Damon Richey leaving in a vehicle. Police arrested them on the spot.

Pendleton is charged with murder and Richey is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.
