Crime has increased in one of the safest Oklahoma communities.
Police say violent crimes in Edmond are up from 80 to 95, including 2 murders. The response time has increased as well - from 3.5 min. to 4 min.
Officials say there are different reasons for that. Last year the police department was 10 officers short and more people have moved in to the area. The tough economy also had an impact.
"It's not a huge increase but you never like to see your violent crime rate go up at all," said Glynda Chu with the Edmond Police.
Even with the increase, Edmond was still the safest of the 15 largest Oklahoma cities last year.
