Larry Jones Off 'Feed The Children' Board

KSBI News

The founder of Feed The Children, Larry Jones, now has no ties, or a say in the international charity.  This morning Jones left Feed The Children's board of directors meeting knowing what would happen.  His board seat was filled because he wasn't renominated, and his term expired in December.  What he doesn't understand is why it came to this.

"I am literally shocked that my christian brothers didn't find another way for us to amicably work together," Jones explained.  "We have not received one single answer.  This is wrong, it's a charity."

The 2 sides have been in multiple legal battles for months.  Jones says 6 lawsuits are pending against the board, while there are about 25 allegations against him including wiretapping, and having pornography in his office.

In a statement, Feed The Children said today, "We were all disappointed when certain events of the past few years came to light, forcing the board to remove him."

Jones says the board needs to reveal the charities finances from 2008, since they serve the public.

"The world's in a tremendous hurt right now, you've got Haiti that's having problems, Chili that's having problems.  And nobody giving out any financial information. This will kill a charity," Jones described.

Feed The Children's board fired Larry Jones as president of the charity last November.  Today, The board of directors decided to appoint Greg Yeilding as successor to Jones' board seat since his term expired on December 31, 2009.

"My biggest fear now is in the very near future the IRS will be knocking on the door saying your 501(c)(3)has been withdrawn," Jones concluded.

501(c)(3) is the tax exemption status used by charitable organizations.

Feed The Children was founded in 1979 and has been ranked as one of the 10 largest international charities in the U.S., based on private, non-government support.
