A metro pre-kindergarten school is cleaning up, and wondering why someone would break-in and trash the classrooms. Police need the public's help to find the suspects, and the school wants to stop the vandalism.
Sister Veronica Higgins with Villa Teresa School said, It's been going on since November of last year, and each time it's been more and more intense."
For the 6th time in months, vandals have destroyed property at the Villa Teresa School in Southwest Oklahoma City. This time they broke into the building, poured paint on everything, destroyed crosses and statues, and even sprayed acid on the walls causing thousands of dollars in damage..
"It leaves you feeling violated and the kids insecure, families insecure," Sister Veronica explained. "I think pretty much all the classroom materials wouldn't be usable anymore because paint's all over them."
The school will close down tomorrow to clean up the damage. Video surveillance captures suspects in the act during the crime spree. Sister Veronica hopes that cameras will help reassure students, teachers, and parents.
"This is the utmost importance for us to provide a safe environment for the children. Parents depend on us for that," Sister Veronica described.
Though many expensive things were damaged, only a TV was stolen from the school. If you recognize the suspects or have information on the break-ins call Crimestoppers at 235-7300.
