OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A 65-year-old Edmond man accused of embezzling money from an organization that helps abused and neglected children has been sentenced to prison.
Eugene Naukam III was sentenced Monday to serve five years in prison after pleading guilty in Oklahoma County District Court to one count of conspiracy and 41 counts of embezzlement.
Naukam's attorney, Jeff Byers, did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment.
Naukam worked as a special projects coordinator at the Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, where his wife, Anna Naukam, was executive director. She pleaded guilty to similar charges in September and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Prosecutors allege the couple embezzled about $500,000 over six years and used it to fund a lavish lifestyle.
