The Mustang Superintendent is sending a message about executive bonuses amid budget shortfalls.
Superintendent Bonnie Lightfoot says she refused a $20,000 pay raise in an effort to address teacher layoffs. Lightfoot emphasized that she does her job to have an impact on her students and not for the pay.
The district will be eliminating a total of 30 teaching and staff positions.
"I can't take an increase in salary, and I can't take any money that could possibly go to something else for the kids of Mustang," said Lightfoot.
Lightfoot did accept a contract extension through 2013.
