Oklahoma City -- A metro church is looking for a new place to hold services. The New Life Faith Fellowship Church, located near N.W. 2nd and Villa, caught fire just after 5:00 a.m. Monday. KSBI Thunder TV's Kealey McIntire has more.
The church's welcome sign says "growing with a vision," but the only thing now visible is the devastating signs of the fire that claimed the building Monday morning.
Firefighters say there was little they could do.
"Initially, we made an interior attack and tried to aggressively put the fire out, but we were blocked by some locked gates and some doors. We had a hard time getting in. There was just too much furniture and things in the way," says Battalion Chief Tommy Iago with the Oklahoma City Fire Department.
Iago says they knew the roof was in danger of collapsing within minutes, so they took a defensive approach.
"We put the firefighters first as far as life safety," says Iago.
Iago says the fire started in the kitchen. The owner told officials they'd been having electrical problems.
The building is said to be a total loss.
