Police Impersonator Assaults Woman

KSBI News

Oklahoma City -- Oklahoma City police are on the lookout for a man impersonating a cop around the metro.  KSBI Thunder TV's Kealey McIntire has more on how he tricked at least one woman and assaulted her.

In a neighborhood that warns off-duty police officers are present, an Oklahoma City woman met what she thought was one of those officers.

"It turned out to be a police impersonator," says Master Sgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Knight says on November 3, 2009, the victim was driving alone near N.W. 122nd and Meridian when she was pulled over.  The impersonator approached her and asked her to get into his car where he sexually assaulted her.

Knight says the man's attire was the biggest red flag.

"He was wearing khaki pants and a khaki shirt, which does not fit what the law enforcement uniforms in this area are.  Also, she said there was no badge, no patch," says Knight.

The suspect was driving a black and white car with a light bar on it.  The suspect says the car even had a plexiglass partition between the front and back seats.  Knight warns that looks can be deceiving.

"It's always okay to pull over into a well lit, crowded area or call 911 to verify that someone is indeed pulling you over legitimately," says Knight.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20's, about 5'8'' and 180 pounds.

You're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300 if you have any information.
