Representative Kern Pushes Petition

KSBI News

The protesters are asking for one freedom. While Representative Sally Kern is asking for you to sign on the dotted line.

"The only reason for this proclamation is to try a rouse up the church much like the tea parties," said Kern.

Her opposers say this "proclamation of morality" is filled with hate and she is just trying to push her religious views on Oklahomans.

"It's generally filled with lies, deceit and hatred, racism, bigotry, which is everything I thought Oklahoma was not," said protest or Robert Oxford.

But Kern says she sides with the majority of Americans and she blames the Obama administration for many problems in the nation. She says it's time for a change.

"This is a question against democracy versus tyranny. Why in the world should the vast majority of Americans who hold to Judea Christian values be dictated to a small minority that want things like same sex marriages," said Kern.

Protester James Nimmo says he is disgusted by Kern's actions and says this goes way beyond personal for him.

"As a gay person living here in Oklahoma I find her statement that homosexuality is leading to the demise of this county, but she has nothing to say about children going to bed hungry," said Nimmo.

Nimmo says her proclamation makes false statements about same sex marriage, divorce, abortion and many other issues. But her supporters say otherwise and say these protesters are exactly why this proclamation is so important.

"We pray for them, we want to see them saved. I don't want to see anybody stuck in a bad lifestyle and I don't want to see anybody die without Christ," said Pastor Paul Blair, Fairview Baptist Church.
