The bulk of the work is over, and what's left is an amazing new studio for KSBI, the home of Thunder TV. Now, they're waiting to power up and finish what's left on Morgan Road. What started as a detailed illustration is a dream no more. As you can see we're standing in the new state of the art studio which is about 4 times the size of the old one. They could probably start bringing in some new sets for Thunder TV because of how close this is to complete. It's a long way to the top, but hanging the ceiling is about the only major work that's left.
Supervisor Glenn Cunningham said, "Just a few changes some walls needed to be manipulated around. We're dropping ceilings, we've got all the grid in, and dropping all the lights so we can get the above the ceiling inspections going."
Electric work is in the home stretch, and once it's finished city inspectors will come in to make sure everything's wired correctly.
"Once you get the power on you've got to go through and check all the breakers work and everything's not tripping," Cunningham explained. "Go through and check all the plugs to make sure everything's good."
Cunningham says that should take a few days to make sure all the outlets, wiring, and breakers work. Then crews can fire up the 10 heating and cooling units, and turn on the lights.
"As soon as we can get completely acclimated we'll start dropping floors in, put the carpet and wood floors in, stuff like that. Once you get the full lights on and everything lighted up where you can see, you're blemishes so you can actually touch them up and fix them," Cunningham concluded.
Crews will come in with a bore machine tomorrow to dig a hole from here all the way underneath the asphalt and concrete to where that temporary propane tank is sitting right now. That's so they can get ready to hook up the permanent propane tank which will sit right where we are standing, and it will be 24 feet long by 6 feet wide. The rainy weather did set back construction in one aspect. They haven't been able to sod the muddy area around the entire building.
