With a roof over their heads, workers continue to make progress at our new building even while it's raining. What was once a wide open building is quickly turning into a very detailed plan unfolding before our eyes. The outside of the building is almost finished.
Supervisor Glenn Cunningham said, "We got the E.I.F.S. (External Insulated Fastening System) band on the top side around the north side and around the west. We'll frame up the exterior on the south side."
Now the inside is getting most of the attention. Hundreds of square feet of sheet rock are fastened to the interior walls.
Chris Landis with Angel Acoustics & Drywall said, "30, 25-30 a day so far we have up 20 today before lunch, so it's going pretty good. It sturdies the walls, and insulates it, keeps heat and cool in."
Extra weekend hours helped crews get caught up on every project from installing electrical boxes to putting in doorways.
"Soon as we can get around the south side and the east side, which is the front of the building, we can get the downspouts on and get the sealant on the brick, we can get everything closed in," Cunningham explained.
And they'll continue to complete the outside of the new KSBI for the rest of the week.
"Tomorrow we should have the concrete guys in here for the sidewalks on the front coming around the north side, get the truck dock poured and the trash enclosure," Cunningham concluded.
Electricians are also hard at work putting in boxes to run the power throughout the building.
