Other than the brick work that's going on it's hard to see everything that's going on at the new station. It's not always what's on the outside that counts, hundreds of feet of piping for many different things are being suspended from the ceiling. The entrance way is being mounted, and the bricks are 20 feet tall, but underneath the roof is where the real fun has started. About 1/3 of the duct work for the heating and cooling is complete.
Jason Scott, the Subcontractor for Sooner HVAC said, "This is just what we call a rough-in, it's what's got to be done before the ceiling goes up. Once the ceiling goes up we tie in the end to each pipe into the ceiling with the grill. Trying to do 1 system a day, and maybe in 12 days we can have the whole building roughed in."
Scott says the energy efficiency of the units has changed over the past few years, and they've become more Eco-friendly.
"It's very important to us and the consumers, they want the most efficient equipment they can get and that's what we try to give them," Scott explained.
Meanwhile sprinkler systems, gas line are being installed. Plus 2 inch water lines find their way along the ceiling to feed the bathrooms and sinks.
Mike Blair a Journeyman Plumber for H&H Plumbing said, "Around 300-400 foot of gas piping and probably around 600 for the copper for the main water lines."
All crews are working diligently to get their projects done before the inside walls are put up.
"By later today we'll start running the gas piping and we should be done with it by tomorrow afternoon, have everything studded on the roof by tomorrow afternoon, and we should be ready for walls after that," Blair concluded.
The drainage system from the roof is almost done, and the duct work is expected to finish in about 10 days. You can check out the progress for yourselves from our StateCam which is at the site.
