Multiple projects are in motion at our new building on the Kilpatrick Turnpike, south of the Northwest Expressway. This locally owned station is being strategically placed in one of the fastest growing parts of the metro. Crews are putting up part of the front entrance on the east side of the new KSBI building. And crews have really amped up work on the site which is becoming a big trend in this part of Northwest Oklahoma City. Welding, duct work, and bricklaying were on the agenda.
Foreman Lance Pellegrini said, "We're setting your entryway finally today, that will be the last of the iron. We're finishing some stuff on top, working on the down spouts for the gutter on the inside."
The new KSBI is one of the more unique commercial projects in an area that's been a hot spot for growth for many years.
Russell Claus the Planning Director for the City of Oklahoma City said, "We're constantly getting new applications for housing subdivisions in the area. It's an attractive place for people it's close to a lot of different amenities and the proximity of the turnpike allows people to move easily around the city."
New housing developments are digging up a lot of dirt even farther to the Northwest.
"Northwest Expressway has been a major corridor into downtown and a primary destination for retail, restaurants, ect," Claus explained.
But as the growth continues to bloom, Pellegrini's only has his eyes on one thing.
"I'm concerned with what's right here," Pellegrini concluded.
The forecast is calling for a good chance of rain so crews have been working very hard and very quickly. One of the main goals is to get the rooftop of this front entrance way connected to the building, and they'll clean up some odds and ends so other workers can come in and do their various jobs at the site. Plumbers, as well as heating and cooling workers were also starting their projects inside the building. All the progress can be followed live from our StateCam that is looking at the site.
