You may recall, just last week we told you about the Oklahoma County Commissioners voting to form the Oklahoma County Detention Advisory Committee.
The group will be made up of nine people who are non-elected county residents.
This all comes on the heels of a recent report released by the U.S. Department of Justice which criticizes the jail's operations. District 3 Oklahoma County Commissioner Ray Vaughn says it may be best to build a new jail.
Commissioner Vaughn says, "If the voters were sympathetic, I think we would ask them to go and lets ask them to start from scratch and lets build something that's state of the art, updated and easy to operate."
Despite his opinion, Vaughn stresses it will be up to that advisory committee to make the decision. It's a decision he hopes will build trust in the community.
