On Wednesday, 100 Spanish/English dictionaries were donated to Fillmore Elementary in Oklahoma City.
The donation was made by the Auxiliary Department at Integris Southwest Medical Center.
For one volunteer, this project hits close to home. Irene Stone grew up in a Spanish-speaking home and can relate to the students.
Stone says, "This dictionary would have helped us tremendously because my parents didn't speak English."
She goes on to say, "I struggled the first and second year studying by myself."
Fillmore Elementary is 68-percent Hispanic. A majority of the first graders at the school live in Spanish-speaking homes.
