Currently, Dr. Keith Ballard is the Executive Director of the Oklahoma State School Boards Association.
The school board unanimously approved contracts that will have Dr. Ballard work as a part-time consultant for Tulsa Public Schools starting September 2nd.
He will then take over as superintendent October 1st.
KSBI-TV spoke with Dr. Ballard on Wednesday and talked about his goals set by the school board. He says they'll work closely together.
Dr. Ballard says, " Those three goals are instruction excellence, safety and discipline and leadership. Safety and discipline are always a must when parents send those kids away to school they want to believe they're safe"
Ballard's contract differs from those of his recent predecessors. It's guaranteed for only one year instead of three and has no buyout clause or bonuses.
