Edmond residents will now receive a phone call in the event of an emergency.
Edmond's Emergency Management and Central Communications departments have implemented CodeRED. Residents and Businesses will be notified of emergencies such as weather alerts, long-term power outages and missing children or adults.
The system will call the phone number up to three times and leave a message with the important information.
Matt Stillwell, Edmond's Director of Central Communications and Emergency Management, says, "What we like about the program is it sends out so many calls in just a short period of time."
The system can deliver a recorded message to 60,000 residents and businesses in just an hour and it can target specific geographic areas.
