Oklahoma City -- One local group is asking Oklahoma City Council members to fix downtown's mass transit system.
You've probably seen the trolleys cruising through the downtown and Bricktown area.
The trolley system was funded through MAPS 1 in 1993. The Urban Neighbors group would like to revamp the system to make it more friendly to tourists and the growing number of people who live downtown.
They'd like better signage identifying trolley stops, improved ways to identify where the trolley is going and more stops at tourist locations and residential areas.
Jeff Bezdek, Urban Neighbors board member, says the improvements are needed if we want downtown to continue to grow.
"It's been outlined time and time again that public transit is at the top of the list for the general public. If we can prove that transit works efficiently in one area and perfect it and improve upon it, then we can expand it to the rest of the city," says Bezdek.
The group presented city council with a three-page report Tuesday. They hope council will review it at the Metro Transit Workshop taking place Monday.
