Apple's latest version of the popular iPhone went on sale around the world today, and buyers are snapping it up. Customers at Oklahoma City's Penn Square Mall and all over the world waited in long lines for their chance to get their hands on one. The brand new, lower priced model of the phone hit stores for as low as $199, much cheaper than the original version. Some people were waiting 7 hours to get their hands on one.
Norman Resident, Lindsey Mulinix said, "I have a Mac and I just wanted an iPhone. Once we were here for like 2 hours we all felt we had committed too much time and we're all friends now. Is it worth waiting this long? I won't know until I get it."
Apple says the new iPhone 3G has faster access to the Internet and a GPS system. But already, customers have had problems getting their phone activated. The Apple Store at Penn Square Mall sold a few hundred by 3:00pm on Friday. They say there might be some left on Saturday for people who still want one.
