Kerry Ann Richards, also known as the Yoga Lady, is teaching a group of 8- to 11-year-olds yoga in a creative new way.
The class is a lot more relaxed than a typical yoga class.
Kerry Ann says, "All of our poses are geared toward children."
Rather than your typical yoga stretch, these kiddos use poses with names like peanut butter and jelly, snake, polar bear, and eagle to stretch their bodies.
Ten-year old Krystal Phillips says she really enjoys the silly poses.
"You get relaxed and you stretch. You stretch to make you feel better and it won't hurt as bad as it use to," says Krystal.
Kerry Ann says yoga is a great way for these children to relax in the midst of this stressed-out world.
She says teaching breathing exercises, like Take Five, help calm them down when they're frustrated or angry.
She says the goal of Yoga For Kids is to give them a chance to cool down, strengthen their bodies, stretch their bodies, and calm their mind.
Yoga For Kids is offered by the Integris Mind, Body and Spirit program. For more information on the program call 943-3921.
