Man Arrested In Missing Texas Family Case
DALLAS, Texas (CNN) -- A 37-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on charges of capital murder in connection with a missing pregnant woman, a Smith County Jail officer said.
Stephen Barbee was booked into the Smith County Jail in Tyler around 3:15 a.m. (4:15 a.m. ET) and was expected to be arraigned Tuesday morning, the detention officer said.
Lisa Underwood of Fort Worth and her son, Jayden, were reported missing Saturday when she failed to appear at a baby shower.
A large quantity of blood was found in her living room, police said.
Underwood, 34, is seven months' pregnant.
Her blue Dodge Durango was found nose-down in a creek Monday in Denton, about 40 miles north of Dallas.
An extensive search continued around the site Monday afternoon, Fort Worth police Sgt. Rene Kamper said.
Bond for Barbee was set at $2 million.
Investigators have talked to Jayden's father and the father of Underwood's unborn child, Kamper said.
Police issued an Amber Alert for Jayden over the weekend after determining he and his mother could have been abducted from their home. The alert was expanded Sunday into New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.
