Donna Pitts gets emotional when she talks about how much she appreciates the troops fighting in Iraq.
"There's no way to tell an individual how much we appreciate all they've done. You can say thank you, but there's no way to tell them what it really means," says Pitts.
She goes on to say, "Regardless of your politics, regardless of whether you agree with the war or not these guys need our help."
The Edmond woman is doing her part to help by putting her fingers to work. She's part of a group called Sew Much Comfort. She and others use their skills to make clothes tailored specifically for those severely wounded soldiers.
She says, "The reason I really like to do this is because my brother was killed in Vietnam. I just thought that would be a great thing for me to do."
She's gotten creative with the clothing to make it convenient for those injured soldiers.
"I make pants that open all the way down the side so they can have access to a wound, a brace or whatever. If a person can fit in their own clothing that's a mark of success for somebody to recover," says Pitts.
She believes the new tailored clothing will have a huge impact on the lives of these soldiers.
She says, "I just think it makes a great difference in their whole attitude, their emotional stability and just how they feel."
