It wasn't easy but Betty Sullivan is proud to finally have her college degree.
She just graduated from the University of Oklahoma after working on her degree for 26 years.
Betty says, "It didn't seem real. It really didn't seem real."
She started college back in 1980 and now has a degree in arts and sciences.
"With a degree I think I'm doing what I do better," says Betty.
Jim Sullivan, Betty's husband, says, "I tell Betty she was a little slow in getting her degree. I got mine when I was 60."
Jim could relate to wanting to get a college degree. He started on his at the age of 37.
"Knowledge I think makes you more understanding of what life is," says Jim.
It is that knowledge the two of them says keeps them young at heart.
The couple will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in March.
They're the proud parents of eight children, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
As for Betty, she says she will keep doing what she loves and hopes to spread that message to others.
Betty says, "Follow what your heart tells you."
