Coin Honors Fallen Oklahoma Agent

Monday, June 5, 2006; Posted: 3:40 PM(CDT)

Oklahoma narcotics officers are coming together to help the family of a fallen collegue.

Memorial coins have been issued to honor Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Agent Choc Ericsson, who died in the line of duty last year.

OBN Spokesman Mark Woodward says Choc Ericsson sustained a severe head injury while trying to detain and investigate a driver who was suspected to be under the influence of methamphetamine.

In a statement released Monday, Woodward said, "Choc was a true hero that night.  The suspect was on a meth-induced rampage, and I have no doubt Choc protected a lot of innocent people who would have been in the suspects' path that evening.

Choc was a member of the Association of Oklahoma Narcotic Enforcers.  The group, A-ONE, is having several hundred coins stamped and distributed with the proceeds going to the Ericsson family.

The coins are $5.00, plus $2.50 shipping.  The coins can be purchased by contacting Corporal Craig Williams with the Ardmore Police Department.

Choc worked out of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Woodward District Office.
