A program aimed at stopping domestic violence gets a huge push. Today, Attorney General Drew Edmondson announces the expansion of the "End the silence, End the violence" program. Posters will be in every Walmart superstore and discount center, that'll provide women a phone number to free themselves of domestic violence. The posters will be in both English and Spanish, and are hung in women's dressing rooms and bathrooms. In the first 4 months of the program, there was an increase of 39.4% in victims seeking assistance.
Oklahoma's Attorney General Drew Edmondson said, "We will have fewer cases of domestic violence, more children saved, and an overall reduction in the level of violence in the state of Oklahoma. Lives will be saved because of what Walmart has agreed to do in cooperation with the Attorney General's office."
85 Walmart stores across the state will take part in the program. Others are now following the lead of South Carolina, and Oklahoma.
