Drug Ring Leader Sentenced

Thursday, May 08, 2008 Posted: 11:00 a.m. (CDT)

A McAlester man considered a leader of a Pittsburg County drug ring has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling says 25-year-old Brian Fry was sentenced in federal court Wednesday in Muskogee, where he had previously pleaded guilty to money laundering conspiracy.

Along with the 20 years in prison his sentence will also include three years of supervised release.

Sperling says Fry's brother, Shannon Fry, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for money laundering and another five years on another conspiracy charge. Shannon Fry also pleaded guilty to the charges.

In all, 13 people were charged in connection with the alleged methamphetamine ring in Pittsburg County.

Sperling says warrants are outstanding for Apolonio Mendoza, 42, and Fernando Vazquez, 26, who are considered fugitives.
