Oklahoma City Police have launched a new program to help protect your children from possible abductors.
The new Threat Recognition And Interdiction System (T.R.A.I.S.) focuses on identifying and analyzing patterns of predator behavior.
Detective Robert Kemmet says serial criminals follow patterns that are often times recognizable.
He says, "We can do a comparative analysis of events and develop a pattern so that we can investigate a potential predator profile before there's necessarily victims, before a child is victimized. We can see those patterns develop before crimes are committed."
Detective Kemmet says people are often reluctant to call about suspicious activity, but their call could save a child from a predator.
He says there are times when the reports turn out to be nothing, but that's fine. He says they would rather investigate and find nothing than investigate and find a predator.
Detective Kemmet says there has not been a system like T.R.A.I.S. in place before. The Oklahoma City Police Department is hoping this system can be replicated in more cities, to save more children.
