Postal Service Mailing Kiosks Now in Every State

The Postal Service's version of an ATM for Postal Service customers, the Automated Postal Center (APC), is now available in all 50 states. APCs provide a quick, easy and convenient way for customers to weigh, calculate and apply exact postage, and ship Express Mail and Priority Mail items, packages and First-Class letters right at the kiosks. They also provide easy access to postal products and services the same way ATMs provide access to banking services.

APCs began appearing in Post Office lobbies in April 2004 as part of the Postal Service's ongoing effort to expand the reach of products and services to the mailing public. By late November, a total of 2,500, at least one in each state, were in place throughout the nation.

Customers can perform most of the mailing transactions that are available at Post Office acceptance windows. The kiosks accept debit and credit cards for these transactions and charge no service fee.

"APCs offer quick service during busy mailing periods, making it easier than ever for customers to do business with us at their convenience," said Chief Marketing Officer Anita Bizzotto.

As always, retail associates are available at local Post Offices to provide personal assistance for more complex needs such as mailing packages to international locations, conducting Registered Mail and Postal Money Order transactions and handling passport applications.

Many APCs are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Customers can contact employees at local Post Offices to obtain APC operating hours.
